Dive no. 191

Coral Gardens

This was a crazy current dive. I was keeping to the high teens a few m above Richie. We came around a bend and suddenly I could fin only enough to stop from moving backwards but I could not move forwards. Richie below me continued to move forward.

"He's got very strong legs" I thought as I tried harder to no avail. I signalled to turn about and move with the current. We both ascended a little and suddenly the current went the other way. Then it started a downward pull. Finally we were around 8m and in calm water again and a group of divers was rushing towards us sideways a couple of metres above.

Crazy currents

Despite the current, the colours were wonderful as you can see with these coral photos. If anyone can identify them I would be very grateful - don't have any coral id books to refer to.
